Does US Citizen Need Visa To Enter Vietnam?

US passport is one of the strongest passports in the world. Citizens of United States of America can travel to a lot of countries with free-visa policy. How’s about Vietnam? Does Vietnam provide visa exemption to US citizen?

In fact, Vietnam had opened the visa exemption to many countries, included countries in the Southeast Asia, some countries in Europe, Japan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan and Chile, not included United States of America. Therefore, US citizens need visa to enter Vietnam.

However, if you are holding US passport, you can also get a free-visa if:

– US citizens travel to Phu Quoc island only, staying for less than 30 days and do not visit any other places in Vietnam, visa is not required. The visa is required in case travelers visit both Phu Quoc island and other sites in Vietnam or stay more than 30 days in Phu Quoc.

– US citizens holding APEC card can enter Vietnam for up to 90 days free visa, no matter where to visit.
